Boston Bruins: Prospect Update
While the NHL is still locked out, other leagues continue to play. This gives some of the Bruins top prospects time to continue to improve. Here’s how those prospects are doing so far this season.Dougie Hamilton - Hamilton is regarded as the Bruins top prospect and is back with the Niagara Ice Dogs of the OHL this year, but if the lockout ends the Bruins can recall him to join the team in Boston. So far, Hamilton has 17 points (six goal, 11 assists) in 16 games. He has also registered a +12 with eight penalty minutes.
Malcolm Subban - Subban, the brother to hated P.K. Subban, is playing for the Belleville Bulls of the OHL. He’s played in 12 games, going 7-3-2 with a 2.17 goals against and .930 save percentage. His goals against average and goals against are both fourth best in the OHL
Alexander Khokhlachev - Khokhlachev is back home in Moscow playing for the Moscow Spartak. But after finding success playing for the Windsor Spitfires for two seasons, he is having a disappointing start to the season back home. In 19 games, Khokhlachev has just two points and is a -5.
Brian Ferlin – Ferlin is coming off an ECAC Rookie of the Year season in which he recorded 21 points in 26 games for Cornell. But due to Ivy League rules, the Cornell season is just getting under way. Ferlin has one goal in two games played.
Zane Gothberg – Gothberg, a freshman at the University of North Dakota,has started one game for the No. 5 Sioux. He allowed just one goal in the victory.
Tommy Cross - Cross has seven points in seven games for the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. But he is also a -3 and has 13 penalty minutes.
Seth Griffith - Griffith continues to tear up the OHL for the London Knoghts. He has 21 points in 14 games in his fourth season with the Knights. But Griffith has racked up 22 penalty minutes as well.
Matt Grzelcyk - Grzelcyk has three assists in four games in his first year at Boston University.
Lars Volden - Volden is currently playing in Finland for the Espoo Blue of the SM-liiga. No stats are available right now for Volden.
Maxim Chudinov – Chudinov is in Russia playing for St. Petersburg SKA. In 20 games he has five assists and is a +11. He also has 26 penalty minutes.
Shawn Hunwick - The former University of Michigan star is in his first season in the Bruins organization. In three games with the South Carolina Stingrays, Hunwick has gone 2-1 with a 3.24 goals against and a .917 saver percentage.
