Fantasy Hockey: What to expect from Bruins Dougie Hamilton
As anticipated, Dougie Hamilton‘s playing days with the OHL Niagara IceDogs are over. According to the Boston Globe, the general manager of the Boston Bruins confirms Hamilton will stick with the NHL club beyond the five-game tryout limit — activating the first year of the young defenseman’s entry-level contract.
“He has a lot of poise,” Peter Chiarelli said. “He plays a very mature game. I’m sure inside he felt relieved. But based on how I’ve seen him play, I wouldn’t be surprised to see his game go one way or another, because he’s a real poised, mature player.”
Hamilton is expected to continue to fill a top-four role, either as partner to Dennis Seidenberg or Zdeno Chara. And the 19-year-old is in no danger of losing his position with the secondary power-play unit.
“So Z [Chara] will be 41 at the end of his contract,” Chiarelli noted. “I think he looks at Dougie and thinks he’ll be his partner until then.”

The HockeyFanLand Insight:
Dougie Hamilton has always had a offense first type of game. Last year, Hamilton was named CHL defensemen of the year. These skills have transferred to the NHL very early on with four assists in his first five contests. currently Hamilton is only 28% owned in Yahoo fantasy hockey leagues. However, his stock is on the rise with over 1600 recent Adds. Dougie Hamilton would be especially valuable in fantasy keeper leagues as it will only get better with experience.
