Sunday Morning Rumor Update
Few rumors I’ve been following this morning…
1) The Minnesota Wild are one of the three teams that in the running for LA Kings netminer, Jonathan Bernier. The other two teams are the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers.
Reports surfaced yesterday that the Wild are looking at several options in net, including the possibility of re-signing Niklas Backstrom and trading for Bernier.
But, it appears the team is also looking at another option in net.
Michael Russo of Minneapolis’ Star Tribune reported that the Wild have expressed interest in Pittsburgh’s Penguins, Marc-Andre Fleury.
2) Nick Kypreos reported last night that Patrice Bergerson may have suffered a spleen injury. He was taken to hospital by ambulance during the third period. RDS reported this morning that Bergeron will fly back to Boston with the team.
3) According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Red Wings could end up buying out a player like veteran Mikael Samuelsson this summer. Samuelsson has one-year left on his deal.
It’s believed Sameulsson’s $3 million dollars, could be used to pay for a top-six forward, which Wings GM Ken Holland will be targeting this summer. If the Wings are unable to trade some of their players before the start of free agency, they could use one or both of their compliance buyouts.
