Bruins Close to Signing Free Agent Jose Theodore

Reports are saying that the Boston Bruins are close to signing free agent goalie Jose Theodore to a contract worth $800,000 – 1.1 million. Theodore will share the responsibility of a backup goaltender to Tuuka Rask with Brett Johnson, another free agent signed this summer.

Theodore has played 648 NHL games and 110 AHL games with the Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals, Minnesota Wild, and Florida Panthers organizations. In the NHL he has 286 wins (33rd all-time), a 2.68 goals against average (tied 50th all-time for goalies who have played 100+ games), and a .909 save percentage (tied 42nd alltime for goalies who have played 100+ games). In the AHL he has posted 47 wins, a 3.02 GAA, and a .912 SV%.

Theodore was drafted 44th overall in the second round of the 1994 Entry Level Draft by the Montreal Canadiens and was born on September 13th, 1976 in Laval, Quebec, Canada.
