Many Sharks related things happened this week, including two suspensions, two significant injuries and some AHL shuffling.

In a game vs. Vancuver, Canucks D Alex Edler hit Tomas Hertl in the head.  Hertl’s helmet popped off, but he did not miss any game time.  Edler was suspended three games by the NHL Department of Player Safety for the the hit.

A couple games later, Dan Boyle and Maxim Lapierre went into the corner.  Boyle got to the puck first and was checked from behind by Lapierre.  As he fell, Boyle’s jaw hit the lip where the glass and the boards meet.  He was taken off the ice on a stretcher.  He missed one game so far and is still being evaluated.  Lapierre was suspended five games.

F Adam Burish will miss three weeks due to surgery on a plate in his back.  To fill his spot on the roster, F Bracken Kearns was called up from Worcester and inserted on the 4th line.  The next day, he was sent down to Worcester, but no one replaced him.

The Sharks are 7-0-1 and are playing some of their best hockey in a while.  They will look to keep up their winning ways Monday night in Detroit at 4:30 PST.

In case you haven’t heard, there is finally a Sharks mobile app for iPhone and Android, available on iTunes and Google Play.
