Sorry for not updating weekly like I was trying to do after week 1, but I don’t really think it is very helpful to just regurgitate the scores, when they can be easily found on theahl.com.  Well, as many throughout the hockey community know, November is officially MOvember. Many AHL and NHL players are taking part in MOvember in order to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer. (more…)

AHL: Week 1 Recap

The American Hockey League season is officially underway, having begun on Friday October 12th, with a total of seven games taking place. While I would absolutely love to do a little analysis on each game, doing so would result in a ridiculously long post and would take so long that Week two would already be underway but the time I got around to posting it. It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Training camps are officially underway  for the thirty AHL teams and the preseason game is set for tonight between the Chicago Wolves and the Peoria Rivermen. With the start of training, there has been a ton of happenings taking place in the AHL.   Here are some of the top news stories from around the league.

How the Lockout is Impacting the Western Conference

As I alluded to in my last posting, I am going to do an in depth analysis of the players that were sent down from the NHL to the AHL prior to the lockout. Along with these players, any NHL players that were listed on the AHL clear day roster from the last season are able to sign to an AHL contract. For the first part of this analysis, I am going to take a look at the teams from the Western Conference. (Note: Being assigned does not guarantee that they will play in the AHL)

Keep Calm and Carry On (Watching the AHL)

It’s happened again, the NHL Owners and the NHLPA cannot agree to a new CBA agreement without having to resort to the extreme measures, the dreaded lockout. We all have heard about the various effects of this dramatic measure, the laying off of workers, local businesses losing game day business, and finally the overall effect on the true hockey fans.

Rememberance

NHL trade rumors

A year ago today the hockey world experienced a final blow in what had been a highly tragic summer, the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash. I am sure that many of you can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the horrific news.  Personally, I was sitting in my Personal Selling class scrolling through twitter on my phone, when the news came across my feed.
