It is after games like the one the Rangers played Thursday night in Dallas that you fall right back in love with the trade that brought Rick Nash to New York. You might say the team gave up too much to bring in a guy who’s never scored more than 80 points in a season. You might say they shouldn’t have broken up a core that led them to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2012. You might even say they were flat out better off without him.
The Los Angeles Kings go .500 on their first road trip of the season as they lose 5-3 against the Winnipeg Jets. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was pulled in the third after he allowed four goals. With a too-little-too-late effort to come back in the third period, LA can revel in the fact that they can now come home to start the season in LA. (more…)
A year after Los Angeles won their first Stanley Cup, the Kings were one series away from returning for a chance to repeat. The Chicago Blackhawks had other ideas as they ousted LA in five games in the Western Conference Finals. Unlike the 1993 Kings that went to the Stanley Cup Finals (and lost to Montreal), this team is not going wait nearly 20 years for another chance. This team is poised and ready to fight their way back to the top, all the while chanting, “WE WANT THE CUP…AGAIN!” (more…)
The Los Angeles Kings opened up the season having to earn a game that was rightfully theirs, beating the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in a shoot out. In a game that was dominated by the Wild in face-offs and shots-on-goal, the Kings were the ones that were able to prove they had offensive advantage. (more…)
The Los Angeles Kings may start their season two days after some other NHL teams, but I prefer to think about it as some NHL teams jumped the gun on starting the season before the Kings opening night. It is here ladies and gentlemen of the Nation of Kings. The new hockey season has begun! (more…)
