Lightning ride Bishop to 5-0 thrashing over the Hurricanes

The game was actually a lot closer than the final score seems to indicate. Sure, that’s said quite a bit in the NHL, but in reality, the Bolts found themselves chasing the play a bit in the first and second periods. They were thoroughly out-possessed and outshot for much of the evening while the score was close, and though the Carolina Hurricanes pressed to try and score and Tampa sat on a big lead, newest Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop was up to the task, making 45 saves on 45 shots for a shutout victory in his first game as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Assessing the Bruins moves at the 2013 Trade Deadline

With the 2013 NHL trade deadline in the rearview mirror, it’s time to take a look at the Bruins two “major” acquisitions. The last month has exposed both the Bruins lack of scoring, as well as their inability to hold leads in the third period that has come as a result of their inability to be accountable in their defensive zone. While the fans and media debated which area of the ice was of greater need the argument could certainly have been made that general manager Peter Chiarelli needed to add both a forward and a defenseman.  The question is do the acquistions of Jaromir Jagr and Wade Redden make the Bruins a “deep” enough team that is capable of another long playoff run. Report: Jason Pominville could be Dealt

Jason Pominville: Pominville, who has a modified no-trade clause, has apparently supplied to GM Darcy Regier a list of teams to which he’d be willing to accept a trade, The Buffalo News reports. Said Pominville: “I don’t want to answer by yes or no, but what I can say is obviously Darcy has a job to do, and for him to be able to do that in my case and in guys that have these kinds of lists, for him to be able to listen, he needs to know.”
