As the 2014-15 season creeps near us it’s time to take a look at the teams around the league and predict where they may finish.
It has been an interesting offseason for the Columbus Blue Jackets and their pursuit to resign restricted free agent Ryan Johansen. Rumors that relations have become strained between Johansen and Blue Jackets management are swirling, as well as Johansen’s agent Kurt Overhardt stating that Johansen has at least six standing offers from various Kontinental Hockey League Teams. Training camp has begun and a new season of Penguins Hockey is upon us.
With training camp opening on September 19th, let’s take a look at what we should expect from the changes made during the off-season.
Welcome to September, everybody. The month on the NHL calendar where business decisions are finalized, training camp rosters are filled out, and preseason hockey kicks off. There’s been a lot of activity surrounding the Vancouver Canucks in the recent weeks, everything from rookie tournaments to new hot dogs. Here’s all the latest Canucks headlines heading into the preseason.
Last season, the Detroit Red Wings had a very up and down season. Finishing 4th in the Atlantic Division and 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 39-28-15 record was not ideal, but it did not stop the team from making their 23rd consecutive postseason appearance. Yet, numerous injuries to top players as well as inconsistent goaltending and a rough first round matchup in the playoffs against the Boston Bruins certainly did not help things and ended Detroit’s season much sooner than they had hoped. But there were bright spots along the way, giving Detroit fans hope that the team can turn their luck around this season and get back to being one of the top teams in the league. (more…)
