Back in September of 2009, the Boston Bruins shocked the hockey world when they traded Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Shortly after, the Leafs signed Kessel to a five-year $27 million contract. With Toronto seemingly in the early stages of a rebuild, should they trade the hot –commodity Kessel, or keep him around as the centerpiece to build a new team around? (more…)

On July 5th, 2013, Leaf fans were happy and excited to hear that the team had signed free agent David Clarkson to a seven year, $36.75 million dollar contract. On February 26th, 2015, close to 2 seasons later, Clarkson was traded to the Blue Jackets in exchange for Nathan Horton. Again, most Leaf fans seem happy and excited to hear this news. (more…)

On 2/25/2015 Penguins GM Jim Rutherford acquired forward Daniel Winnik from the Toronto Maple Leafs for Forward Zach Sill, a fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft and a second-round pick in the 2016 draft. Toronto has retained 50% of Winniks salary.
