For the past few months, Leaf fans have wanted their team to lose, or rather ”tank the season” to get the best pick possible in the June 2015 NHL entry draft. The idea of tanking seemed to changed on Saturday night when the Leafs faced the Bruins. After Boston beat the Blue and White in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs 2 seasons ago and scarred the Nation, no fan wants to see their beloved team lose against the Bruins again. Fans were finally cheering for the Leafs again, even though a loss would potentially lead them to an even greater draft pick. (more…)
I know most who are reading this think this is going to be a blog entirely about the season saving rise of Devan Dubnyk. He does indeed deserve the wealth of the credit for the Wild’s resurgence into a playoff spot. Yet there are more pieces to the intricate puzzle that we now call the Minnesota Wild. Chuck Fletcher has been trending this team upwards since taking over in 2009, this year may have been his most shrewd year to date, seeing as to what he sent away has dealt returns not even he could have dreamed of. The Rangers have been playing their best hockey all year lately. It doesn’t seem to matter who’s in the lineup or not they don’t skip a beat. Last week we received news that Kevin Klein, who’s been playing great all year will miss about a month due to an upper body injury. This raised some questions as to who would take his place. (more…)
The Penguins were stomped by the Detroit Redwings 5-1 this past Sunday, and while the defeat once again showed the lack of scoring depth the Penguins actually possess, it also was a game that shone a spotlight on Pittsburgh’s biggest issue, composure.

As it comes with every NHL season, the trade deadline leads to mass quantities of rumors, speculation, and the occasional false report. This year, many felt it would be a quiet deadline with the amount of activity teams were involved in before March 2nd. But that was anything but the case, and there was a flurry of activity right until the 3 PM deadline. Some teams made moves for the present, others for the future, but regardless there were winners and losers on both sides. (more…)
